What a TechFix Pro tune-up covers
We address every common cause of slowness in a single visit.
Remove startup programs
Too many programs launching at boot is the single biggest cause of slow startup — we clear the ones you do not need.
Scan and remove malware
Hidden malware silently uses your processor and network. We scan, remove and harden your defences.
Clean junk files and cache
Gigabytes of temporary files, browser cache and old downloads are cleared to free up space and speed.
Update Windows or macOS
Outdated systems run slower and are less secure. We apply all pending updates safely.
Optimise browser
Too many extensions and cached data slow every browser down. We clean and tune your default browser.
SSD upgrade (if needed)
If your computer still has a slow hard drive, an SSD upgrade is the single biggest performance improvement possible.
RAM check
We check whether your memory is adequate for your usage and recommend an upgrade only if it will genuinely help.
Final speed test
We test boot time, file open speed and browser performance before and after so you can see the actual improvement.
Common questions
How much does a computer tune-up cost?
Remote tune-up starts at $49 flat — no call-out required. For an on-site tune-up combined with hardware upgrades, the call-out is $79 plus $99 per hour. We always quote upfront and our No Fix, No Fee guarantee applies.
What does a computer tune-up include?
A TechFix Pro tune-up includes: removing malware and junk software, cleaning startup programs, clearing temporary files and cache, checking for Windows or macOS updates, optimising browser performance, and recommending hardware upgrades if needed.
Will a tune-up make my old computer fast again?
Often yes. Many slow computers are held back by startup programs, accumulated junk, malware, or outdated software — all of which a tune-up clears. If the computer also has a slow hard drive, upgrading to an SSD at the same visit delivers the biggest speed boost of all.
How long does a computer tune-up take?
A software tune-up typically takes 45–90 minutes. If we also install an SSD or upgrade memory, add another hour. Most tune-ups are completed in a single visit.
Can you tune up a Mac as well as a Windows PC?
Yes. We tune up both Windows PCs and Apple Macs — clearing startup items, removing adware, optimising macOS settings and recommending SSD upgrades where supported.
